Virgin River is getting Netflix again.
The streaming giant said that the soap opera starring Martin Henderson and Alexandra Breckenridge will return for a sixth season during its time in front of Madison Avenue ad buyers at its first-ever upfront presentation on Wednesday in New York. The announcement of the extension coincides with Virgin River’s fifth season, which will launch on the major streaming service at a later date in the fall.
Tuesday marks the start of the Cannes Film Festival with Johnny Depp and “Jeanne du Barry.”
This necessitates a round of beverages at Jack’s: This fall, Virgin River’s fifth season will (finally) debut, and Netflix has also picked up the drama for a sixth season.

Netflix’s internal metrics show that the drama based on the same-titled novels by Robyn Carr has been a strong performer. (Like other streamers, this one does not disclose conventional viewing figures.)

Sue Tenney, who oversaw the Hallmark-like drama’s first four seasons, was replaced as the fifth season’s showrunner by Patrick Sean Smith. The production of season five is already over, and there is no set timetable for the show’s comeback.
