Eddie Murphy has a pink streak.
The actor is currently negotiating to play the title role in Pink Panther, an MGM comedy based on the iconic film. He would play Inspector Clouseau on screen.
Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy is currently in talks to star as Inspector Clouseau in the upcoming ‘Pink Panther’ film, Variety confirmed.
Filmmaker Jeff Fowler of Sonic the Hedgehog is in charge of the direction, with Rideback’s Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich (Aladdin) handling production under their Rideback name. In addition, Julie Andrews and Larry Mirisch are producing.

‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ director Jeff Fowler will helm the remake of the legendary movie, which will be scripted by Chris Bremner. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce through their Rideback label.
The original Pink Panther movie featured a gem known as the Pink Panther, and it followed the misadventures of bumbling Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers). In the opening credits, a cartoon panther made an appearance. He went on to become well-known in his own right and star in numerous cartoons over the years.
The new feature film would blend both traditions and be a live-action/CG hybrid, according to sources. The Inspector and Panther are collaborating on-screen for the first time in the plot, which has a buddy cop movie feel to it. The project is still in the deep development stages, according to insiders.
The ‘The Pink Panther’ franchise reportedly got its start with the 1963 comedy movie starring Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau, according to Variety, a US-based media site. Later, Sellers would return to the part in the 1964 film “A Shot in the Dark.” The Pink Panther Strikes Again in 1976, The Pink Panther Returns in 1975, and The Pink Panther’s Revenge in 1978. Alan Arkin, Roger Moore, and Steve Martin have all played the part.
The movie has yet to have its official release date announced.
In the meanwhile, Eddie Murphy recently appeared in the Netflix original series “You People” with Jonah Hill, Lauren London, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. According to Variety, the movie focused on an interethnic relationship and the subsequent cultural clash between the couple’s respective Black and Jewish families.
Ryan Halprin, who was in Rideback, is executive producing.
With successes like Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America in the 1980s, The Nutty Professor and Doctor Dolittle movies in the 1990s, and the Shrek movies in the 2000s, Murphy rose to become one of the top comedic actors in the world. His most recent roles were in You People on Netflix and Coming 2 America on Amazon.
